About this learning project

Created by Elliot King, a fourth-grade educator at Martha’s Vineyard Public Charter School.

MVPCS staff directory

Our purpose

Help young people investigate Massachusetts and Martha’s Vineyard through maps, community voices, primary sources, and thoughtful play. The main audience is grades 3–8, with support for families and educators.

This is an educator-created resource. References to MVPCS describe the creator’s teaching context; they do not claim formal school adoption or endorsement of every page. The site is not an official government or Tribal Nation publication.

How we work with sources

We distinguish primary sources, later accounts, estimates, and teaching illustrations. Sources and dates matter. AI-assisted instructional writing, translations, and illustrations require human review; they are not historical evidence. Published interviews belong to their speakers and publishers.
