Massachusetts connection

South Wellfleet, near Marconi Beach

Marconi was an Italian inventor who developed wireless communication. In 1903 his South Wellfleet station sent a message from President Theodore Roosevelt across the Atlantic. The nearby beach preserves his name. This was a Cape Cod milestone, not Marconi’s first experiment with wireless signals.
