Our classroom collection

Massachusetts government
& our election learning

Our slides, math investigations, biographies, discussion readings, and mock-election activities—together in one place.

Read the date. Understand the source.

The recent election reading was prepared November 4, 2026. October candidate packets are a record of the campaign before Election Day. Our mock election uses fictional candidates for classroom practice.

The newly elected congressional majorities begin serving in January 2027. Reported election results and counting snapshots should not be described as certified final vote totals.

Our original classroom slides

Choose the 19-slide State House Area Lab, the 31-slide mock-election workbook companion, or the separate 33-slide illustrated variation. Read the slide text, present full screen, or download the original file.

Advanced reading · Teacher support recommended

Samuel Adams: From Revolutionary Organizer to Governor

Original one-page class biography about colonial protest, independence, constitutional government, and Adams’s service as governor. Its vocabulary and historical arguments are best explored with a teacher.

Teacher note: the reference to Surry needs context. Surry was an enslaved woman given to Adams’s wife. Accounts say Adams called for her freedom, but the timing of her legal emancipation is uncertain. Read this passage as a question about historical evidence, rather than a settled timeline.

Notes for using the original class materials

The classroom archive includes blank activities, readings, slides, and teacher guides. The perimeter teacher guide is a public classroom copy with student names removed.

Math preparation: print the State House Station Kit at Actual Size and check its calibration square. The Area Field Guide pairs with those mats. Some Election Day perimeter worksheet questions refer to a separate 21-slide presentation; that presentation is not included in this collection. Use the accompanying teacher guide to plan those prompts.

Historical context: the governor-race and debate packets preserve October 2026 campaign proposals. The levels-of-government poster shows office holders as checked October 20–22, 2026. Students may live in towns other than the school’s town, West Tisbury.

Fair participation: students can compare ideas and practice civic skills without sharing family political views. The mock-election kits introduce fictional candidates and provide blank practice ballots.
